Richard H. Peeples advises clients regarding all forms of pension, profit sharing and 401(k) plans, including design, tax qualification, and tax and ERISA compliance. He also advises clients on all administrative matters relating to sponsoring a qualified plan. Richard is particularly skilled at communicating with clients and educating them as they begin a new qualified retirement plan or as their retirement plan design is ready to change.
Richard received his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Austin College in 1970. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Texas in Austin in 1974. Richard is a member of the Taxation Section of the State Bar of Texas and the Employee Benefits/Executive Compensation Section of the Dallas Bar Association. He has been a speaker at CPA, employee and trade group meetings and seminars on employee benefit topics. He has over 40 years experience serving on boards of non-profit corporations, including serving as chair of the Board and as Treasurer of several organizations. In 1998, he was the recipient of the J.C. Penney Golden Rule Award in recognition of his volunteer services.
Allison M. Kohler advises clients as to the qualification, documentation and termination of qualified retirement plans. She also advises clients regarding the various compliance and administrative issues that arise in connection with the maintenance of a qualified retirement plan. She has experience representing clients before the Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor with respect to issues relating to our clients' qualified plans.
Allison received her Bachelor of General Studies degree summa cum laude from West Texas A&M University in 1997, and earned her Juris Doctor degree magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota in 2001. Allison practiced in the employee benefits/executive compensation practice group of a large Dallas law firm for three years before joining Peeples & Kohler, P.C. (then known as Peeples & Hilburn, P.C.) in July 2004. She is a member of the Taxation Section of the State Bar of Texas and the Employee Benefits/Executive Compensation and Solo, Small Firm & General Practice Sections of the Dallas Bar Association. Allison is the proud mother of Rachel Lane, a beautiful girl with the sweetest spirit, and Ethan Gabriel, a fearless boy with a strong, independent will.
Megan L. Billings communicates with clients regarding implementation of their qualified retirement plan and provides guidance to clients on the initial steps to begin plan operations. She drafts various plan documents including IRS required restatements, plan amendments and compliance documents. Megan also assists Richard and Allison in researching various issues that arise in connection with maintaining a qualified retirement plan.
Megan received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree magna cum laude from Dallas Baptist University in 2011. She earned her Juris Doctor degree cum laude from Southern Methodist University in 2014. Megan is a member of the Taxation Section of the State Bar of Texas and the Employee Benefits/Executive Compensation Section of the Dallas Bar Association. She is also a member of the Dallas Young Lawyers Association.
